Afraid of Losing Job, Florida Woman Deletes Office Files Worth $2.5 Million

Scary, scary, scary stuff. People can get awfully paranoid when it comes to their jobs. Some people can’t help but think that everyone is out to get them, which seems to be the case for Marie Cooley of Jacksonville, Florida. http://www.switched.com/2008/01/24/afraid-of-losing-job-florida-woman-deletes-office-files-worth/

The company had no backups :(

This reminds me of a company I used to work for (not naming names). The new IT administrator that replaced me lost most of the company’s email because he didn’t have a good backup of the data.

The irony of this is he would badmouth me about the backup procedures and how he was fixing things (to make himself look better/valuable). In my 9 years with the company, not once did I lose any data, we had multiple data restore requests coming in every month.

    What’s that they say about Karma… :)
